Monument

This morning my older son and I had an hour to pass until it was time to pick up his younger sibling from Sunday school.

Since the weather was nice we decided a short hike might be in order.
So where are we going to go Dad ? he asked.

I replied, Well boy, how about I take you someplace where you can learn about not only the history of our town, but also some things about the culture, art work and beliefs of the people who lived here in centuries past ? ( Yeah I really said that haha )

With a questioning look in his eyes he wanted to know if we were going to a museum. Nope, someplace better I said as we headed up the north 7th street hill.

You should have saw the look on the boys face when I drove threw the gate of the Old Easton Cemitary , as I glimpsed over at him I noticed him clutching the arms of the seat in the van while his eyes looked like they would pop right out of his head.

It took some time to coax the lad out of our family vehicle but when I started to stride off he must have realized that waling threw the cemetery with Dad was better then sitting in a van alone surrounded by all these graves ! ( I think he may of watched just one to many zombie movies )

Before I get to long winded on the subject I'll stop to say this family monument is over three storeys tall, I had to patch as many photos together to show the whole thing with some detail.

After examining some of the statues my son got over his fear of the undead and actually started to drag me around to different locations that he thought would make good shots. So I'm going to devote this weeks worth of photos to some of these old memorials, Enjoy !
