Yes I'm still avoiding the cold weather so here's another shot from the summer .
I really like this perspective. To see this bridge coming out of the forrest is really weird. The colors are great too.

@Francis: I wish I could have fit more into the frame, there is actually a river deeper below this and the span goes on for a few miles over the valley. Thanks for the compliment !
Fred - this is a super image! Brilliant colors, great perspective - very well done!!!

@Jerry: Thanks, it was a good day to shoot. The sun was bright, it rained the day before giving the trees that extra lushness and the sky worked out nice too.
Great contrast---the black and white versus the color--almost completely different pictures in terms of mood.

@Sylvia: Thanks for the compliment , ya gotta love that photoshop !
ps. don't tell Sidonie from Sydney, Australia about the processing. I think he may be onto me !
See how totally mundane our advanced 21st century super duper digital technology can be! This one isn't a patch on the previous - as one commenter noted, the previous b & w had the quality of a postcard, and I agree - it has the feel of a large plate sepia toned photo from the 1920s - and with the crop, makes the bridge very imposing and IMPORTANT. Can't believe you'd do this, Fred! Totally spoilt my fantasy!

@Sidonie: Alrighty then, I guess you caught me red handed . It's true I didn't use an ancient box camera with a large glass plate negative, nor did I focus by twisting dials and pulling levelers on a bellows lens system whilst under the hood attached to the back of said camera. And further more I must admit I didn't blacken my hands by igniting loose gun powder in a flash pan to compensate for low lighting .
Woe is me for not developing the glass plate using archaic chemicals like cyanide to activate the silver oxide to produce that image, and even worse..I can't even begin to forgive myself for not ageing the print for at least 75 years to give it that true sepia tone .
Yes, the cat is out of the bag, my ruse has been discovered by your keen eye and superior deductive reasoning ! You have exposed me for being the slave to modern technology and the cad that I am. The world is once again safe from my avid Tom foolery !
On a side note, would you believe I had been lost in the tropical rainforest of South America with nothing but the cloths on my back, a machete and my trusty camera. I hadn't seen any signs of civilization for weeks until I cut threw the wood and the vines to happen across this wondrous site ?
No ?...ok just checking .
Thanks for your post, hope you don't mind me having abit of fun with the reply : )

@j. coleman miller: wassamatter wit him? wassamatter wit you ?
Dude, your a 50 year old White man and your typing like one of the homies back down on 7th street ! Now I apologise if you suddenly spawned a gold tooth and are wearing nine pounds of chains around your neck topped off with a pimp hat . If this is the case feel free to Dis, Dat , and wassup all you like . All I ask is that if you ever decide to come for a visit please give some advance notice so I can explain to my children that " Jamie went Gangsta ! " so they won't be to frightened . They already have a hard time dealing with some of our old friends but I fear that would push them over the edge.
Haha, this still looks like the bridge is super-imposed. Francis is right--it does look really weird to have this monster springing out of the forest. With that tight color control, it definitely looks like you created it. Good job on the natural capture of an "unnatural" subject!

@Evelyn: In the original RAW the colors were already pretty rich and deep, but the underside of the bridge was very dark..to the point that almost no detail could be seen. For the color shot I edged up the saturation abit, and then slightly increased the mid tone contrast. This brought out the rust stains running down the concrete pillars and also highlighted the color painted on the steal.
A circular polarizing lens was on my camera also, I adjusted it for the deep blue of the sky.
Thanks much for your comment, I'm happy you enjoyed the photo's..I have a few more to post on this subject .
