But ya need enough light to bring out the details without the grain.
The original image had sharper lines and a smoother texture to her skin which I would have liked to preserve.

I think you take wonderful photos Hill and am quite impressed with your eye for detail, we just need to find a middle ground on the exposures . I've found by shooting a more balanced exposure that removing light in processing doesn't degrade the quality of the image, giving you the effect your after and also allowing the crispness to come threw.
